Hmm.... where to start with this....

Lately I have been feeling some what distant from my best friend, and it really saddens me!

We use to do EVERYTHING together.......

She'd be there for me when Chris & I were in an argument...

I'd be the one driving her drunk ass home after the bars every night... (literally every night)

She'd be the one puking in the front seat of my Lexus...

I'd be the one cleaning it out at 3 am....

We were the girls everyone called to see what we were getting into...

She would be the one, that chased down a random stranger at a bar, when so called random stranger picked me up in the bar and started walking out with me.....

I'd be the one giving the pep talks when guys were being complete douche bags to her...

I could go on and on about she and I.... we were Frick & Frack.

And now that she and I are both in serious relationships, I feel like we are slowly drifting apart from each other.

And to be honest I don't want that to happen!

Yes, we both work different hours for our jobs...

I have the office job Mon- Thurs 8 am - 4 pm

She has salon hours Wed- Sat 10 am - 8 pm

There have been numerous times when I have invited her and her boyfriend out, to join Chris and I at dinner... or her to hang out with the girls, and all I get are excuses on why she can't meet up with us.

She and her boyfriend and Chris and I have both been dating for a little over 3 years. And the four of us have only gotten together once in that whole time period! Which was to a concert and her bf really didn't seem to be thrilled to be there.

I've have only been over to her house twice, and it's not like we live hours away from each other, she's only a 30 min drive away, and works 10 mins from my house. I have dropped by her work to visit her and drop her off at Starbucks now and then, but I just don't get it.

I just keep thinking over and over again in my head, what went wrong? Did I do something to her? Does her boyfriend not like me? WHAT IS IT!

I miss us! =(

  1. It is hard to go through transitions with a friend ... I hope you two come through closer than ever ... adorable photo!

  2. I hate to hear this! Keep trying I'm sure she will come around!!

  3. I can't really say for sure what might be causing this. If you guys are really meant to be friends this little speed bump won't stop that. My bestie and I can go weeks without talking and be fine. It's harder now that she's married and a mom. I'm still just dating a guy who I'm serious with and I moved many states away. sometimes life just gets in the way.

I would just ask her - tell her you miss the times you used to have and be honest. Maybe she will offer up why she's been distant or maybe she's feeling the same and doesn't know what to say.

be it an email or just a phone call. Let her know you miss her and you'd love to get together for drinks or dinner just you girls :)

Your boyfriends don't have to be besties but if they love you they could totally do a double date thing.

I hope it's that she's just been super busy and not because her boyfriend's being a tool about you girls being close!

  4. Sometimes it just happens, just call her up.

  5. i feel your pain hun :(
    it sucks!!
my "best friend" broke up with her boyfriend last night of over 2 years and i heard about it from someone else.
she made up some lame excuse why she hadn't kept in touch with me the past week or so.
ugh, when do you just stop and give up...throw in the towel.
i'm leaving the ball in her court because i'm sick of trying. i give 80% she gives 20%. that's not right,
i'm sorry that you are dealing with this as well hun :(
    i heart you!!

  6. That sucks, it could be the boyfriend try inviting just her to go out with just you. Sometimes people do grow apart and it can't be helped. They say don't put your eggs all in one basket that goes with friendships too. I hope it works out for you.

  7. Girl that has happened to almost me and all of my friends when my hubs and I started dating they were still going out to the bars everynight and all I wanted to do was hangout with B but eventually you just grow apart and live your own life. But I would call her up and try to talk about it with her.

  8. Sad face. This makes my heart hurt a little. i know what you're dealing with. Reach out to her! Maybe she's waiting for you.

  9. I can't begin to tell you how much i know what you're going through. Friendships come and go, we all know that, but a best friend...that's tough. I say take the first step and make an effort. If nothing happens, well its her loss. Friends grow apart, good friends do too but its how you make it work that determines the longevity of that friendship.

  10. I know just what you mean. My best friend and I used to be on the phone every single night and now we're lucky if we get to chat once a week. People do grow apart but it doesn't mean you mean less to each other. Let her know what you're feeling, I'm sure she misses you too :)

  11. I am so sorry!! this is really hard! Try and reach out to never know ;)

    Happy Valentines Day!! ;)
