I have finely made the list to de-bachelorize the house.
(excuse the lawn.. it needs to be mowed and trimmed)
OUTSIDE:
~ Flower Beds: DONE
This past weekend was spent getting the flower beds into shape. Between babysitting and the heat, it took me three days to do it. Although on Sunday my sister and neighbor decided to help me.
I should have taken a before picture.. but even though it isn't my house I was still embarrassed. And I am sure the neighbor was tired of looking at knee high weeds, and that's why she came out to help... well that and because she probably felt sorry for me.
* even though I stay at the house um mm... A LOT. I like to see how long it takes the three males that actually live there to do stuff, which is why the weeds got so high. And since I am technically living there for the the time being I could not have the yard looking a hot mess!* (Don't mind the grass.. my step brother has to come over to cut and weed eat.)
~ Concrete:
The previous owners of the of BP tried to be a handy man... and failed terribly! He re-did the front walk way with interlocking bricks.. which, yeah if it was done properly it would look nice.. but its not. It isn't level so when ever it rains the whole front walk way by the steps flood which is no bueno!
Along with the front walk... there is an area on the side of the house where the trash bins go, and again the previous owner just threw something there.. although it isn't brick.. it's a whole bunch of hostas which are over grown and just not good there. So those will be getting ripped out and concreted over as well.
And the last but not least area to be getting the concrete overhaul would be a little area in the back yard. You walk out of the screened in porch, and right next to the stairs is what we like to call "the mud pit". That is literally what it is. When ever it rains you better believe the dogs walk right through it every single time.
~ Flower Bed/Herb Garden:
The boys have two big bushes just randomly placed at the end of there concrete patio. I would really like to put up brick around them and make it into a small flower bed or herb garden.
~ Re-Screening/Painting Patio:
This will probably be one of the biggest projects I will do. Right now the patio, is painted this awful cream color that just looks dingy. I plan on repainting it white to make it a little lighter out there. There are areas of the screens that are torn from past storms coming through so that will def. have to get fixed. Add in a new white ceiling fan... with some rope lighting at the top and it should be good as new.
~ Painting Trim:
As you see in the above picture... the trim color is this horrible Americana colors. This will change as well. The boys have decided that they would like a sage green color. This project will be put on hold until the fall when it's actually cool out.
~ Power Washing:
The house is getting a complete deep clean.
Inside:
~ Living Room:
Carpet is getting ripped out and laminate flooring is going down. And trying to figure out if there is drywall behind the gawd awful wood paneling. I painted over it last year and put chair molding around the room, but I am tired of looking at it. Repaint.
*eventually get new furniture*
~ Kitchen:
Take down the randomly placed light fixtures. Continue the laminate flooring into the kitchen. And maybe knock down a wall. =)
~ Master Bedroom:
New Carpet! Peel down wallpaper that was painted over, and repaint. Maybe whip up a valance for the windows.
~ Master Bathroom:
New vanity and sink. New toilet (who thought that colored toilets were a good idea? Chris' is a ugly taupe color.. blah... the tube/shower is the same color.) Peel down wall paper. Take down over sized mirror. Tile floor. repaint.
~ Dining room:
Repaint
~ Hallway:
Repaint
I think that pretty much sums up everything I would like to get done. =) I hope that this keeps me busy enough to have to months go by fast.
I hope everyone has a FUN & Safe holiday weekend! =)
